Colditz Cove State Natural Area. Allardt, TN
A pretty and unspoiled park. The 60′ high Northrup Falls is a short, easy walk over a cleared path. The surrounding area makes for a peaceful hike. Good parking for car or motorcycle.
Burgess Falls State Natural Area. Sparta, TN
Several falls in one place. Each waterfall is different. The exposed rock formations are more fascinating towards the end! Well-maintained hiking path and outlook platform. Can get busy on a nice day. Has facilities. Good parking for car or motorcycle.
Ozone Falls- State Natural Area. Rockwood, TN
Closest falls to our house. Impressive 90′ drop. Short walk to head of falls. Steep, unimproved descent to the base. Was used in scenes of movie “Jungle Book”. Limited paved parking for motorcycle. Interesting wooden trestle train bridge across street.
Black Mountain Trail & Overlook - Crab Orchard, TN
No waterfall this trip, but splendid views over a valley and out to the Smokey Mountains in North Carolina. Only 15 miles from our house. The drive alone up the mountain road is fun. Good parking for motorcycle. See TennGreen Information
The 2-mile loop at the top of the mountain is a great hike. See the details from AllTrails.
Lilly Bluff Overlook - Lancing, TN
This great Overlook is just 10 miles NE of our house, but requires a circuitous 50 mile trip to get there. It’s worth it! While there are several hiking trails, we headed for the Overlook; A neat series of elevated pathways. Stunning! Good parking for motorcycle. See National Park Service page
And if after all this hiking you have worked up a thirst, stop at the Lily Pad Hopyard Brewery just over the Clear River.
